Early Childhood and Keith County

Where it Started

When we talked to the community about what they want Keith County to look like in five or ten years, great resources for children and families always topped the list. Supporting childcare providers as they create safe, nurturing spaces for children was an important part of those visions, too.

Where it's Going

Keith County Foundation Fund helped bring the C4K Communities for Kids program to Keith County. Events and education are key parts of its mission, along with supporting local access to the Step Up To Quality Nebraska.

We're proud to announce that Kayla Schmittler, owner of Growing Minds Childcare in Ogallala, has invested the time and training to reach Level 5 of Step Up To Quality. It is a significant achievement and reflects the care and commitment to learning that the families she works with experience every day.

Step Up To Quality

Before age 5, 90% of a child's brain development has already occurred. Early childhood education makes a difference, and supporting our childcare providers is an investment in our children's futures. .
