Philanthropy

The Youth Inspired Philanthropy Project (YIP) is an exciting opportunity for youth and
young adults to use their creativity, compassion, and love of their community
to make a difference.
YIP is in its fourth year providing a path for youth and young adults to experience the process of grant application and project implementation and impact measurements. Those involved pitch their ideas (think a NICE Shark Tank!) including offering a plan and calculating the cost. Those selected will receive a $1,000 award to bring their project to life.
WARM HEARTS
As an early Christmas surprise, laps and hearts were warmed at the Indian Hills Manner and Wel-life Assisted Living when these 5 third graders delivered handmade blankets and cookies to the residents. The girls had surveyed residents earlier this fall to find out their favorite colors and their favorite animals so that they could choose fabric that each individual would love. In all, the girls made 61 lap quilts.

This project was a wonderful example of the spirit of philanthropy; giving of your time, talent, and treasures. The residents loved their new gifts and enjoyed the interaction with the girls.
In 2024, this creative idea was selected and funded as part of the YIP program. We are always honored to empower the community to make a difference for those who live here.
